Spider veins, also known as thread veins, are tiny blood vessels that run close to the skin’s surface. They can cause red or purple wiggly lines. They aren’t broken, but slightly dilapidated. They are also known as telangiectasia.
Thread veins are more common in women than they men. Women experience thread veins on average 10% more frequently than men. Although they are not indicative of any underlying medical conditions, they can be considered unsightly and can sometimes be a sign that there may be circulatory problems. They usually appear on the legs but may also affect other parts of your body, including the face.
